Helix Nebula - Imperialism Veiled (click for more)

In many contemporary conflicts, religion is often used to justify persecution, concealing the political and personal agenda behind brutality. For this necklace, I imagined a world where the eyes of different deities and religious symbols coexist within the same sphere. From left to right, the icon of the eye from Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Daoism are presented in order. From these eyes, creeds of non-violence hang down like tears, intersecting and merging into a collective stream that flows toward the clasp of the necklace. The clasp is shaped like the Helix Nebula, a celestial formation often called the Eye of God, ambiguous in its religious origin.

The convergence serves as a reminder of our shared humanity as random specks in the universe, and points out the irony of manipulating divine narratives to justify abuse of power.
